I’m truly not one to make New Year’s resolutions. I would like to think of them more of challenge or goals to pursue.
Like it or not, we spend most of our waking hours with our career— probably more than in any other area of our lives. Let me ask, are you passionate in what you do?
Awhile back, during an interview for an article, I was asked about my first job. This was my reply; “My first job was working at an amusement park in Southern California (I’ll let you guess which one). I operated the world’s highest, fastest and scariest wooden racing roller coaster —well, at the time it was! I sent unsuspecting victims off for the ride of their life (and a serious case of white knuckle exhilaration). In a warped way, this established my life work of helping others find passion in their lives.”
I was—and over 30 years later still am—passionate about helping people through career issues. It could be someone who is just starting out to a person in transition—it’s become my life’s work.
In 2013 I want to challenge you to find your “life work”. Find some that will make you spring up in the morning! Find something that will give you “white knuckle exhilaration”! Find something that will be your legacy.
As 2012 is quickly winding down, thanks for being a part of my life’s passion. May you have a blessed and passionate 2013!
